Fashion and street art

Fashion and art were more closely connected at the end of the 20th century, where artists themselves didn't see the creative difference between painting or designing a textile pattern, than they are today..But times are changing again and we're slowly coming back to the idea that fashion IS art! The two are without a doubt influencing each other. Because we don't just dress ourselves to cover up from cold, we dress to express who we are..

Street art
In the same time that Banksy started to make name for himself, street style photography started to get more popular too. Suddenly more than ever, the eyes were on what's going on in the streets...At first art was to be found in galleries and fashion trends introduced at fashion shows. But with the upcoming of the popularity of street art and style the artists and fashionista's received for the first time public recognition.

An example of the upcoming popularity of street art as fond of inspiration was the colorful collection of Stephan Sprouse designed for Louis Vuitton. But also artists take inspiration from fashion, like the Sweet Streets show inspired by the Japanese street fashion.
